Right Click Test

To test your right mouse button, right click in the test box. It lights up and the counter rises, and the context menu is blocked so you can click freely. Click slowly to check for double clicks, then use the click speed test set to Right to measure right clicks per second.

How it works

Point at the grey box and use your mouse there. The page reads your browser’s mouse events and never sends them anywhere.

These tests need JavaScript. The explanations below work without it.

Made for a real mouse. On a phone or tablet, only the click speed test works with touch. In Firefox and Safari a side button may still go back a page; the page tries to stop that.

How to do it

  1. Point at the right button test box.
  2. Right click a few times and check the counter goes up by one each time.
  3. Look at the gap list for red, suspected double clicks.
  4. Run the right-click speed test for 5 or 10 seconds.

If right click does nothing

  • Check that the buttons are not swapped in your system settings (primary button set to right).
  • Some mouse software lets you remap the right button to another action.
  • On a Mac, right click may be set to a two-finger click on trackpads; a separate mouse still uses the right button.
  • If the button feels mushy or has no click, the switch may be broken.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if my right click works?

Right click in the test box. If the right side of the mouse picture lights up and the counter rises by exactly one, the button works. If nothing happens, check your system and mouse software settings.

Why does my right click open a menu twice?

That is often a worn switch sending two clicks. Click slowly in the test box: red gaps under the threshold confirm a double-clicking right button. Software that remaps the button can cause it too.

Can I measure right click CPS?

Yes. The click speed test on this page is set to count only the right button. Pick a time, then right click as fast as you can. The timer starts on the first right click.

Why is my right click slower than my left?

Most people use the middle finger for right click, which is usually less trained than the index finger. Many mice also have a slightly different feel on the right switch. It is normal for right CPS to differ.

Will the context menu open during the test?

No. The test box blocks the context menu while your pointer is inside it. Outside the box, right click works as normal, so you can still copy or open links on the rest of the page.
